The LIFE programme, the EU funding instrument for the environment and climate action, is celebrating its 30th anniversary and Life SEPOSSO is part of it! We have organised educational events for school children in Lazio and trips to the sea to talk about dunes, beaches and Posidonia with ISPRA experts. Together with teachers from the institutes, ISPRA researchers presented an informal lesson to first-year middle school children on the biology of Posidonia oceanica, the importance of seagrass beds on marine-coastal ecosystems, and the importance of their protection by all citizens, accompanying the explanations with thematic videos and video cartoons specially made for the children, at the end of which some aspects were discussed in depth with the children.
In addition, themed games were offered to learn the concepts while having fun, and a workshop was set up to allow the children to observe plants, beached leaves, matte, egagropils and Posidonia oceanica olives up close.
