Also in 2023, as part of the “After Life” activities under the Life project, LIFE SEPOSSO collaborated with several schools as part of the Posidonia oceanica education project.
The appointments with schools were as follows:
- 21 Marzo 2023: IC PIAGET – MAJORANA, PIAZZA MINUCCIANO 33, ROMA with 2 classes (40 pupils)
- 22 Marzo 2023: SCUOLA PRIMARIA MENGOTTI VIA F. MENGOTTI 91, ROMA with 2 classes (30 pupils) e I.C. SCUOLA PRIMARIA F.APORTI VIA A. SERRA 91, ROMA with 1 class (25 pupils)
- 3 aprile 2023: IC VIA PADRE SEMERIA (PLESSO G. MOSCATI), with 2 classes (36 pupils)
Together with the Institutes’ teachers, ISPRA researchers presented an informal lesson to the first-year middle school students on the biology of Posidonia oceanica, the importance of the meadows on marine-coastal ecosystems, and the importance of their protection by all citizens, accompanying the explanations with thematic videos and video cartoons specially made for the students, at the end of which some aspects were discussed in depth with the students.
In addition, themed games were proposed to learn the concepts while having fun, and a workshop was set up to allow children to observe plants, beached leaves, matte, egagropil and Posidonia oceanica olives up close.
