Dissemination and divulgation activities continue in our study sites for the Life SEPOSSO project (Action D.1).Dissemination and divulgation activities continue in our study sites for the Life SEPOSSO project (Action D.1). In Piombino (Livorno), on Wednesday 10th October, ISPRA researchers and project partners 150 students from the Primary School of Diaccioni, Via San Quirico, Piombino.
In a playful meeting, the researchers recounted and explained the importance of Posidonia oceanic praire with the support of short educational films. Particular attention was given to the little ones, that received as a gift the comic book “Discovering the Posidonia oceanica” with the story of the adventures of Posi and Donia (the mascots of SEPOSSO), conceived and realized within the project.Also some tutorial gadgets of the project were distributed to all those present, such as educational games designed for both adults and children. Moreover, childrens were enertained with group games, such as crosswords, memory and cards created by researchers to learn the respect of the wonders of the sea by having fun at the same time.
During the meeting, thanks to the technological support provided by the OTS of the Jacques Cousteau Association, a live video connection was made with the divers immersing on the prairie. The young were able to experience the excitement of watching live all the phases of the dive, following the voice of the divers w and interacting with them, asking questions and seeing LIVE the Posidonia oceanica prairie and its inhabitants. The day was concluded with the setting up of a small Marine Biology laboratory where the students could observe the plant and the organisms that live between its rhizomes and leaves.
