Education and dissemination activities have started on our study sites for Life SEPOSSO (Action D.1). First stop in Civitavecchia, Wednesday 27 June at the Italian Naval League, Lungomare Thaon de Revel, 3 – 00053 – Civitavecchia (RM).
In a meeting with the young students of the summer sailing school, ISPRA technicians and researchers spoke about the importance of Posidonia oceanica meadows with the support of short educational films. In addition, a small marine biology field laboratory was set up to observe the characteristics of the plant and the organisms that live between rhizomes and leaves. With the occasion of the meeting we presented the two mascots of the project: Posi and Donia. Through the story of their adventure, narrated in the comics “Alla scoperta delle praterie di Posidonia oceanica“ (“Discovering the Posidonia oceanica meadows”), specially created for the dissemination among the little ones, we have learned together the hidden world that populates this wonderful habitat.
The day ended with the distribution of gadgets for the boys (frisbee in biodegradable coloring material, comics, key rings) and with group games designed to transmit consciousness and respect for the wonders of the sea while having fun.
