The kick-off conference of the project LIFE SEPOSSO “Supporting Environmental governance for the Posidonia oceanica Sustainable transplanting Operations” took place on Wednesday 15 November 2017, 09:30 am, at the Auditorium of the Ministry for the Environment and Territory Protection and Sea, via Capitan Bavastro, 180 – Rome.

The project aims to increase the efficiency of the planning and control of Posidonia oceanica replanting (priority habitat sensu HD – 1992/43/CEE), realized as a work to compensate the damage caused by works and coastal infrastructures subject to Assessment of Environmental Impact (VIA), through electronic information systems, guidelines, technical-scientific manuals and training courses. The collaboration among the various stakeholders involved, both technicians and administrators, will be essential to developed good practices as a concrete support to the Governance of these activities and, consequently, to the application of the European environmental legislation (eg EIA-2014/52/EU and MSP -2014/89/EU), based on an eco-systemic approach and a sustainable use of resources. Moreover, an extensive Networking activity will guarantee the sharing of the results of the project and the replicability also at a Mediterranean scale.
