As part of the events scheduled in Piombino between 8 and 12 October, Life SEPOSSO organized a meeting among the stakeholders involved in the management of Posidonia oceanica transplants in the study sites (Action B.1)<\/strong>. A round table <\/strong>was held in Piombino Port (LI), Friday 12 October 2018<\/strong>, at the Sala Corsi, Piazzale Premuda. During the meeting were presented the talks of Claudio Capuano<\/strong>, ADSP of the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea, of the Lieutenant of Vascello (CP) Rossella Loprieno<\/strong>, of the Maritime District Office of Piombino and of Gioia Benedettini <\/strong>of ARPAT. The topic of the interventions focused on the transplant performed in Piombino, Gulf of Follonica, in 2014, as a compensation measure required by the Environmental Impact Assessment decree for the dredging of the access channel to the port. The data collected during the previous monitoring campaigns <\/strong>were presented for the first time, in addition to the surveys carried out for Life\u00a0SEPOSSO, conducted by the team of underwater scientific operators in the days before the meeting. Based on previous data, a survival of 92% of the 340 transplanted Posidonia oceanica plates was calculated. Strength and critical issues of this kind of trasplantation technique were discussed during the meeting, along with the importance of raising awareness among citizens to adopt protective measures to preserve Posidonia oceanica meadows. The preliminary results of the governance analysis<\/strong> conducted by the CNR partners were also presented, a fundamental step to stimulate awareness of the importance of seagrasses on indirect stakeholders.<\/p>\n
