Stakeholders

The restoration of Posidonia oceanica meadows requires specific planning because faces different  issues, in terms of compliance with current legislation, necessary authorizations and impact on the environment and society. For this reason it is important to know the framework of Governance in which the restoration of P. oceanica can be carried out, which actors are involved, what are their perceptions, interests and possible conflicts. In Italy, the main actors and stakeholders involved in the management of P. oceanica transplants have the role of:

  1. Legislators
  2. Clients (private and public)
  3. Technicians (involved in transplantation and monitoring operations)
  4. Environmental inspectors (national and regional authorities who must check and validate the effectiveness of the transplant).

The most interested public, which is the population living close to the coast, plays a strategic role in this scenario. In particular, some specific sector of the population constitute specific stakeholders. These include: citizen and professional associations (eg biologists, geologists, environmental engineers, etc.), tour operators, diving clubs, fishermen (locally), etc.
