As part of the events planned for the monitoring of existing Posidonia oceanica transplants, between 23rd and 29th September 2019 a series of technical-scientific dives will be carried out on the Ischia study site (Action B.2) with the involvement of several scientific divers coordinated by ISPRA.

During the dives the operators will verify the conditions of the Posidonia oceanica transplant, carried out in Ischia Porto in “Punta San Pietro” between 2008 and 2009. The area is designated as a Site of Community Importance “Seabed of Ischia, Procida and Vivara “and is included in the AMP “Kingdom of Neptune”. The transplant, prescribed under the relative decree of Environmental Impact Assessment, was carried out as a compensation measure of the impact deriving from the excavation of the trench made for the Bacoli-Ischia pipeline landing.

The transplant was carried out with the laying of 50 thousand Posidonia shoots on concrete frames on a surface of sea of about 1600 square meters.

The data gathered, along with the collection of video and photographic recordings, will be analyzed and compared with the previous data of the monitoring already carried out within the Life SEPOSSO during 2018 (Prospecting and surveys on the Ischia transplant) and with those conducted previously in compliance with the provisions of the VIA decrees.
